Internet Down? Fix It in 5 Steps

When the internet stops working, the cause is almost always one of five things — and you can check four of them yourself in under five minutes. Follow these steps in order before raising a ticket; most connections are back online by step 2.

1

Check the ONT lights

The small fiber modem (ONT) has status lights. Power and PON should be solid green. A red or blinking LOS light means the fiber signal is interrupted — skip to step 4 and check the cable, then raise a ticket.

2

Power-cycle the router and ONT

Unplug both devices from power, wait 30 seconds, plug the ONT in first, wait for its lights to settle (about a minute), then plug in the router. This resolves the majority of sudden outages.

3

Test with one wired or close-range device

Stand next to the router and test on one phone, or plug a laptop in with a LAN cable. If it works there, the problem is Wi-Fi coverage, not the connection — see our router setup guide.

4

Inspect the fiber cable

Check the thin fiber cable behind the ONT. It should click firmly into its port and must not be bent sharply, pinched by furniture, or chewed. A damaged fiber cable needs a technician visit — don't try to splice it.

5

Check your recharge status

Log in at my.vibernet.in and confirm your 30-day plan hasn't expired. An expired plan pauses the connection instantly; recharging restores it within minutes.

Still down? We'll take it from here

Raise a ticket on the support page with a note about which step failed — it helps our engineers arrive with the right equipment. Field visits in Srinagar happen the same day. You can also call +91 9186 103 794 between 9 AM and 7 PM, any day of the week.

Slow, not dead?

If pages load but feel sluggish, run the speed test on our homepage from a device close to the router. Include the result in your ticket — it tells us whether the issue is on the line or in your Wi-Fi.
